11-year-old Tabay Atkins discovered his passion for yoga at just 6 years old. His mother, Sahel Anvarinejad, was recovering from stage 3 Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and started practicing yoga as a part of her recovery. While still in recovery, she became certified as a yoga instructor.
Sahel then opened a yoga studio in 2013, just one year after she became yoga certified, located in San Clemente, California. Care4Yoga had a special little helper who would assist Sahel around the studio and during classes.
Tabay saw how much yoga improved his mother’s health and when she beat cancer, he decided to start his training to become a certified yoga teacher. He says in the video below, “If I spread yoga it will help others heal”. So during the summer of 2016, after 200 hours of dedicated training, Tabay finally became a certified instructor.
All for a good cause, Tabay now teaches at his mother’s studio and donates the money he makes to kids with cancer. Sahel proudly says that her son’s classes, around three a week, are the ones that fill up the fastest. Check out the link below to watch Tabay in action!
