It can’t get any cuter than this! When NASA posted about a job offer as a “Planetary Protection Officer”, 9-year-old Jack Davis couldn’t contain his excitement. He responded to the job posting by sending NASA a letter explaining that he has seen all alien and space movies, is considered an alien by his sister, and is good at video games.
The letter reads,
My name is Jack Davis and I would like to apply for the planetary protection officer job. I may be nine but I think I would be fit for the job. One of the reasons is my sister says I am an alien . Also, I have seen almost all the space and alien movies I can see. I have also seen the show Marvel Agents of Shield and hope to see the movie Men in Black. I am great at video games. I am young, so I can learn to think like an Alien.

However, the job is not as exciting as it may sound. James L. Green, director of NASA’s planetary science division wrote back to Jack to clarify that the job is not what Jack may think it entails. According to NASA, “it’s about protecting Earth from tiny microbes when we bring back samples from the Moon, asteroids and Mars. It’s also about protecting other planets and moons from our germs as we responsibly explore the Solar System.”

Jack is not deterred by NASA’s response though. According to BuzzFeed, Jack thought a reply from NASA was “pretty cool but that he thinks they should take him anyway. He told ABC News that, “I feel like I am the only one who really wants a job at NASA this young.”
Maybe one day Jack!
