5 Holiday Snack Ideas Your Kids Will Love

Rachel Jenkins December 12, 2017 December 14th, 2017

The holiday season is here and since it’s a little chilly outside, here are some great holiday snack options you can make inside while you stay cozy and warm. These festive creations are perfect for kids to eat, or even help make! Regardless, these tasty treats are a great way to help get ready for the holidays.

1. Marshmallow Snowman

What You’ll Need:

  • Pretzel Sticks
  • Candy Corn
  • Mini Chocolate Chips
  • Large Marshmallows
  • Large Toothpicks

Stick 3 marshmallows on the toothpick and cut off the excess ends using scissors. Use another toothpick to carve out small holes for the nose, buttons, arms and legs. (It makes it easier for the candy to stick if you do.)

Next, add mini chocolate chips for buttons, candy corn for nose, and pretzels for arms and legs. The pretzel sticks tend to be a little long and make the snowman look disproportioned, so you may have to cut (or bite) off some of the pretzel to make it look better.

If you want to add eyes and mouth, melt chocolate chips in microwave or double boiler, scoop into a plastic ziplock bag and cut off the corner to pipe onto the marshmallow.

Add to hot chocolate or eat as they are. Remember to let kids know there are toothpicks in the middle to avoid any mishaps.

2. Grinch Fruit Skewers

What You’ll Need:

  • Toothpicks
  • Small Marshamallows
  • Green Grapes
  • Strawberries
  • Banana (sliced)

Start by adding marshmallow to toothpick, followed by strawberry, banana slice, and grape. Depending on how big your fruit is, you may need bigger toothpicks than your standard, use your discretion (or cut your fruit smaller). This is a great activity for your kids to help with too, plus it’s festive and fun!

3. Snowman Popcorn Cups

What You’ll Need:

  • Popcorn (no-butter popcorn or white chocolate popcorn works best)
  • Clear Plastic Cups
  • Black & Orange Markers
  • Ribbon (optional)

Prepare popcorn according to instructions. Draw snowman face and buttons on plastic cup, adding ribbon if you so chose. Next, fill cups with popcorn and you’re done!

4. Ice Cream Cone Christmas Tree

What You’ll Need:

  • Sugar Ice Cream Cone
  • M&M Candies
  • Green Frosting

This is a great activity for the kiddos and super simple too. Place ice cream cone on table with point facing up, like a Christmas tree. Add frosting, as little or as much as you would like. Then place M&M’s as the Christmas ornaments and admire your festive and tasty creation!

5. Snowman Bagels

What You’ll Need:

  • Bagels
  • Baby Carrots
  • Cream Cheese
  • Black Candies

Want to make snack time a little more festive, but don’t have time to go all out? This bagel snowman is the perfect solution. Cut bagels in half, and smear with cream cheese. Add baby carrot in the center and add black candies. Bing, bang, boom and you’re done!
