The holidays may have passed us by, but that doesn’t mean winter is officially over. Jack Frost is still making his presence known with cold temperatures and frozen flurries in the air.
Whether you want to stay inside to escape the cold, or if you are sorely lacking in the snow department, here is a winter craft that is bound to bring a smile to anyone and everyone involved.
What You’ll Need:
- Pipe Cleaners
- Craft Sticks, Pencil, or Pen
- Mason Jar or Empty Cup
- Borax Laundry Detergent
The beauty of this craft is it can allow for a lot of creative freedom. You can use any color you want, and as long as they aren’t touching the sides of the glass, you can do any shape you might want. The choice is yours!
First, bend pipe cleaner into desired shape. (Snowflake, circle, triangle, etc.) Attach one end of the string to the snowflake, and the other to your craft stick. Twist string around the stick to get desired length. Remember, you don’t want the snowflake to touch the sides or the bottom of the glass. Mix Borax with boiling water, (
Next, pour the Borax liquid over snowflakes until completely covered. Set the containers off to the side and leave overnight. Make sure not to touch the liquid once you have set them aside, as it will disrupt the snowflake making process.
The next morning, check to see the magic that has happened overnight. You will have beautiful crystal snowflakes that you can use to decorate or give away as gifts.
